Joshua Dhanens is a decorated war veteran

This week the Kern County Board of Supervisors announced that they have appointed Joshua Dhanens as the Kern County Veteran Services Officer in a unanimous 5-0 vote. Dhanens will be  assuming office on October 1.

Dhanens served honorably in the Military Police Corps of the United States Army for five years, before serving in that same capacity with the California Army National Guard for another four years where he was deployed on combat tours in Bosnia and Iraq and earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He has worked for the Kern County Veterans Service Department since 2012, serving as their Veterans Service Manager for the last three years. Prior to that, he served in various teaching capacities as an Adjunct Lecturer and Graduate Assistant. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from CSU Bakersfield and a Master’s Degree in Philosophy from the University of Oklahoma.

Current Veterans Service Officer, Dick Taylor, will be retiring at the end of this month. We are excited for the future paths of both gentlemen and extend our congratulations to Mr. Dhanens and his wife Angela, and wish him well in his new role.
