Man was caught inside garage, held at gunpoint by by resident

The man arrested after being caught trying to burglarize an occupied Taft home in September has been sentenced to two years in state prison.

Aureliano Velesco pleaded no contest to a felony count of first-degree burglary on Oct. 9 and was sentenced Monday.

He was ordered to begin serving his sentence at Wasco State Prison.

He was given credit for 76 days time served and ordered to pay $380 in restitution and fines.

Velasco, 25, was charged with entering a home on 500 block of Keene Lane about 9 a.m. on Oct. 2.

He was heard prowling in the garage by a young child who alerted a parent and the woman held Velasco at gunpoint until Taft Police arrived.
