Staff and members of the community had an opportunity Thursday to engage the three finalists hoping to succeed Willy Duncan as superintendent/president of Taft College.
The candidates were hosted at a reception held in the remodeled Technical Arts building.
Two finalists were assigned a classroom to meet with staff and community while the other was available in the new campus art gallery, which is hosting its first exhibit.
The finalists are Kenneth Meier, Dena Maloney and Curtis Guaglianone.
“I thought it went well,” said Board of Trustees president Billy White.
Trustees are interviewing the candidates today.
White said there will be no announcement following the closed-door interview session.
He indicated that the board may settle on one of the three, and if that happens it will take a little time to offer a contract that would then initiate a negotiation process.
An announcement could be made next week.
The vacancy was created last spring when Willy Duncan stepped down to take a similar position at Sierra College.
The college also must replace Vice President of Instruction Henry Yong, who left about the same time Duncan departed. Yong accepted the presidency at Evergreen Valley College.
Action on that vacancy will await the appointment of a new superintendent/president.
Patti Bench, a professor who at one time served as the college's chief instructional officer, is filling that role until a successor can be hired.
