Taft Police, with help from the Taft Rotary Club, are going to make sure that local skateboarders have helmets on when they go boarding.
Police will be at the Taft Skate Park on Saturday to hand out 140 Mongoose skateboard helmets.
The helmet giveaway will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.
There’s only one catch. To receive a helmet, a parent or guardian must accompany children.
Skateboard helmets will not be given to children who received free bicycle helmets at a Bike Rodeo held in April.
