An 89-year-old Bakersfield woman was injured last week in a single-car accident on Highway 33 south of Maricopa.

According to investigating California Highway Patrol officers, Ethel Meyer was driving her silver 2006 Honda Element northbound toward Maricopa at 3:45 p.m. Thursday just north of Soda Lake Road near Reyes Station.

Officers said she made an unsafe turning movement that caused the single-car crash.
Her car went over an embankment.

She was airlifted to Kern Medical Center with what the CHP described as moderate injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, officers said.
