-Family and friends joined longtime Taft
resident John Miller last Friday to honor his 89th Birthday at the Tumbleweed Café in Derby Acres.
Miller was born in San Francisco and his family moved to the Westside soon after.
His father Leo operated oil leases near Maricopa where John met his wife of 68 years, Betty Harkelroad.
Miller owned and operated two Taft businesses, the Ideal Market in the 1950s and
60's and Pacific Perforating until his retirement in 1998.
Miller has been a member of Taft Rotary for 55 years and served on the Taft College Board of
Trustees for 32 years.
He currently shares time between his rental property in Santa Barbara and Taft.
He has two children, Kathy who is a professor at University of Nevada, Reno and Roger who manages Pacific Perforating.
His keeps a busy schedule but always finds time to enjoy his grandchildren Garret, Kayli and Clay.
