Kern County and Bureau of Land Management firefighters teamed up to control a grass fire in a remote area of northwest Kern County before it damaged any structures.
The fire was reported at 2:44 p.m. in the Temblor Range off Bitterwater Valley Road about 4 miles south of Highway 46.
Approximately 70 Kern County and BLM firefighters responded to the incident.
Upon arrival, crews faced approximately 20 acres burning at a moderate rate of spread.
The fire threatened one home and two structures before it was contained.
Crews worked to contain the blaze with hose lines from patrols, hand crews, and assistance from aircraft water drops.
Due to the fast actions of fire crews, the fire was held short of the structures preventing any property loss.
The fire burned approximately 25 acres and was 100 percent contained as of 4:33 p.m.
Kern County Fire Department would like to take this moment to remind the public that wildfire season is here and to ensure you have 100 feet of defensible space around your home.
