Representatives from Aera Energy LLC, the City of Taft, and the Taft Chamber of Commerce will cut the ribbon for a new kiosk and monument donated by employees of Aera’s Midway Sunset Unit to the City of Taft. A grant to fund the kiosk was made as a legacy gift to the community to commemorate the company’s 10th anniversary in 2007.
The event will be held  at 10:30 a.m. next Wednesday (Sept. 8) at the kiosk on Rails to Trails at Fourth Street and Supply Row.
The donation includes a derrick monument and lighted kiosk that provides visitors to the Rails-to-Trails area current and historical information about the City of Taft, Aera Energy, and the Midway Sunset Field.
Jeff Dittman, Vice President, of Aera's Midway Sunset Operations, will be speaking on behalf of Aera at the ribbon cutting.
