June 3, 1943 - October 17, 2017

Ronald White, 74, journeyed home peacefully to be with the lord on October 17, 2017. He was at home with loving family by his side.
Ron was the only child of Melvin and Edna White of Corcoran, CA who preceded him in death along with his son-in-law Randy Eugene Pittman of Taft, CA. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Fay White of Taft, CA, his daughter Kerrylea Pittman of Taft, CA, son Andrew White and wife Deborah of Worland, WY, son Anthony White and wife Michaela of Taft, CA, and son Joseph White of Taft California along with 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Ron was born on June 3, 1943 in Pryor, OK and moved to California with his parents as a young child. He left school in 1961 and proudly joined the US Air Force at 17 years old where he earned his GED and worked as a B-52 bomber specialist. While stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Solano County, CA he wrote love letters home to Fay and often hitchhiked home to visit her. He finally pinned her down for good when she married him on October 14, 1961 and they had their first two children while still serving our country in the Air Force.
After his honorable discharge, he was a jack of many trades working as an oilfield operator while he and Fay added two more children to their brood and raised them on a turkey ranch in Ventucopa, CA. His family will tell you he was a lumberjack, a carpenter, a mechanic, an electrician, a cowboy, a rancher, a champion wild cow milker, a foodie who had a lifelong love affair with buttermilk served in a glass garnished with cornbread, an active member of Taft  Masonic lodge for 52 years where he served as Grand Master for two terms, and an avid reader who could beat all his kids and grandkids at Jeopardy while wearing his signature overalls and button up plaid shirt. Simply put, he was a giant.
An only child Ron loved to survey the empire he created, a big, beautiful family including his four children, eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, not to mention the many in-laws and outlaws he still claims, all of whom are certain they are his favorite. His family and friends are blessed to have so many very special memories with him.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:00am at New Hope Temple in Taft, CA officiated by Pastor Joey Pittman. All are welcome to attend and remember Ron’s life. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you send donations to Kern County Cancer Fund who generously paid for Ron’s cancer treatment.
