2/22/31 - 11/7/17
Vera was born February 22, 1931 in Bakersfield to Clayton and Edna Elston of McFarland. She grew up with two older sisters, Ruth and Leola May, on a ranch outside of McFarland. Mom loved the dog, chicks, and horses, riding the tractor with her dad, and the adventures of ranching life.
Her devotion to God began at an early age with church attendance. She was our first Sunday School teacher. She read the Bible and prayed daily along teaching Sunday School and attending Bible classes all her life.
She was married to Robert Osborn and they had three children, Judy Dudley (Paul), Debbie Hart (Mike), and Rob Osborn. We will always remember her baking skills, burning food, driving fast, her love of Elvis, and her ability to make holidays and birthdays magical and fun. As much as we always felt her love for us, she found her true calling in enjoying and spoiling her 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Mom lived in Taft for 55 years where she volunteered and spent many days of enjoyment with persons with disabilities and as the First Baptist Church secretary for 27 years.
Mom will be missed by all her family and friends, however, we know our angel mom is now in heaven with Jesus. Thank you to Hoffman Hospice for their loving care to mom this past year.
Services will be held November 11, 2017 at noon at the First Baptist Church, 220 North Street, Taft, CA. Lunch will be served immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
