July 10, 1926 - January 6, 2018

Patricia June Maxwell was born in Corcoran, California on July 10, 1926 and passed away on January 6, 2018 at her home in Taft. Pat attended grammar schools in Corcoran and Buttonwillow, started high school at BHS and graduated from TUHS Class of 1944 after her family moved to Taft in 1941.
In high school, she met and later married Dick Dykes, and together they had four children. Pat married her second husband, Adrian (Egg) Maxwell in 1976. Mom & Pop spent many happy vacations traveling the western US and spending summers in Graeagle, California in their RV.
Pat was an artist and made many longtime friendships while a member of Taft Art Association, including Maggie Blackwell, who she considered her very special friend. She loved bowling, was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Taft and a past member of the Chevron Retirees RV Group.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and Maurice Kenney, her sister, Dixie Nezat, her stepson Richard Maxwell, and her husband, Adrian Maxwell.
She is survived by her children, Richelle Kauhn (Hans), Sue Klinge (Dan), Darin Beckett (Richard), and Lance Dykes (Sherri). Her grandchildren Randy Maples, Josh Klinge, Leah Klinge, Daniel Klinge, Ryan Shuck, Nathaniel Beckett, Andy Beckett, Lachelle Farewell, Kayla Morris and Jacob Dykes, 16 great grandchildren, nephew Lee Patterson and niece Mara Nezat.
Pat is also survived by her step-children Don Maxwell (Chere), Tom Maxwell (Gretchen), Sam Maxwell (Kari) and Gloria Dorman, niece Marilyn Zachery, their families, and a host of nieces and nephews on the Dykes side of the family to whom she always remained “Aunt Pat.”
Mom was the letter writer, Christmas card sender and phone caller who always kept everyone in touch. Her mantra was always “Family First” and she will be greatly missed by her family.
We would like to thank Hoffman Hospice for their help and kindness during Mom’s last 6 months and a special thank you to her caregiver of the past 18 months, Gloria Wagner. We also thank and acknowledge caregivers DeeDee Murch, Annie Sanchez, and Barbara Pierce.
There will be a viewing at Erickson $ Brown Funeral Home on Monday, January 15, 2918 from 4-8 pm.
Graveside services will be held at West Side District Cemetery in Taft on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 10 am.
