Joyce Davis was born in Hanna, OK on February 29, 1932 to Thomas and Lois Wells. She was the fifth of eight children. She moved with her family to Selma, California in 1940 where she attended school and graduated from Selma High school in 1949. After graduation, she attended Reedley College. Joyce married the love of her life, Oscar Lee Davis, on February 22, 1951 in Selma, CA. Oscar “Dave” Davis served in the US Navy, and in January of 1952, the couple were stationed at N.O.T.S China Lake, CA, where they made their home, raised their four children, and lived out their lives.
Joyce was a homemaker while her children were young, then later worked as a secretary for Sierra Sands Unified School District, where she is remembered for her tenure at Burroughs High School as secretary to the Director of Activities.
In 1978 Joyce opened Joyce’s Antiques in Inyokern. Her love for antiques and people helped her flourish in a business that spanned 40 years. She loved her antiques, but Oscar “Dave” was always her first and forever love. She devoted her life to loving her family.
Throughout her life Joyce loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, and on April 22, 2018 she peacefully passed from this life, into the arms of Jesus. Prayer, scripture and hymns of praise embraced her life through all the love and loss, as her Lord embraces her now in eternal life.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Oscar Davis, her son, David Davis, and her parents, Tom and Lois Wells, as well as 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her three daughters, Brenda (Michael) Gilbert of Ridgecrest, CA, Shari (Ross) Davidson, of Ridgecrest, CA, and Glenda (Eric) Godshall of Bedford, NH.
