A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Taft Petroleum Club

Donna Lee McKay, 66, passed away peacefully in her home in Maricopa, California, on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2018. Born in Coalinga, California, she was the daughter of Laura (Nelda) Lowe and William (Jack) Teague. Donna graduated from Coalinga High School in 1970. She married the love of her life, Gary McKay, on May 26, 1974 and opened her heart to his four children, Lisa, Melissa, Johnny, and Jimmy, and then were blessed to have two children of their own, Rebecca and Charles (Chuck). Donna later chose to pursue an education in healthcare. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide. When she completed the state exam, at the time, she held the highest exam score.
Donna and Gary were proud to be lifetime members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) organization where they both held office until, due to health conditions, they had to resign. Donna had a passion for helping Veterans and was involved in several service-related organizations.
Donna is survived by her children Rebecca (Kirk) Grantham of Bakersfield, CA; Chuck (Lindsey) McKay of Taft, CA; Lisa McKay of Hamilton, MT; Melissa (Donnie) Ridenour of Chico, CA; Johnny McKay of Chico, CA; Jimmy (Nora) of Chico, CA; and her brother David (Sharron) Teague of Coalinga, CA. She had 23 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Donna is proceeded in death by her husband of 33 years, Gary; her parents, Nelda and Jack; her brother, Carl; and her sister, Nancy.
Per Donna's request, a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Taft Petroleum Club at 2 p.m. The family would like to thank Optimal Hospice and her nurse, Wendy, for the amazing care.
