It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Robert Paul Jaske. Robert passed away in his home on Saturday, May 19th, 2018 at the age of 65. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Jaske, his mother, Katherine Jaske, and his brother Richard Jaske. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Cindy Jaske, his sister Robin, his daughter Megan, his best friends Jerry and Kurt, and his nieces and nephews: Paige, Scott, Matt, Kim, Danielle, and Jennifer. Throughout his life Robert was a vivacious and involved member of the Taft community- as well as the Pine Mountain Club community later in his life. He graduated Taft High School in 1971, and he later graduated with a psychology degree from California State University Bakersfield. Robert had many lifetime friends, and was well loved by all who met him. He worked in the auto parts and mining industries in Taft- and maintained a role as a loving husband and father. Robert was known for his fondness for animals- he always kept several family pets and is known for having jovially stated he enjoyed them more than most people. Robert was a generous soul who kept his friends close and enjoyed a good cigar. He had a lifelong love of aviation which included both a private and commercial pilot’s license. He was known for his strength of spirit and tenacity in the face of adversity. In his 40’s he began his fight with stage 4 cancer, and in his 50’s he won that fight. He never backed down from a challenge, and was happy to share that fighting spirit with anyone who needed encouragement. In 2015 Robert and his wife Cindy moved to Pine Mountain Club where he became a beloved member of the community there. He will be missed by all who knew him and who had an opportunity to enjoy his smile that could light up any room. A Celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday June 9th at the Historic Taft Fort all are welcome to attend.
