Muriel Mulford was born Muriel Varley in Maricopa, CA on April 20, 1919. She lived a long life, passing away on January 6, 2012. She was of that special generation, born at the start of prohibition, raised during the great depression, and growing of age during World War II. The Greatest Generation. Mom raised her children starting in the 40's, became a working mom in the 50's, and remained working until retirement from the state of California, Division of Oil and Gas (DOG) in 1984.
During the war, she was a secretary with Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego. She talked about it often.
She was a smart, hard working, professional and a warm caring, and loving person. All those who came into contact with Muriel liked and appreciated her. She had a great smile.
Mom was tragically widowed twice, losing her first husband, Leroy Meyers, in 1954; then losing her second husband John Mulford, in 1966. She remained a widow for the remaining 45 years of her life. She loved both husbands dearly.
She liked to read, walk her cats, work her crossword puzzles, visit with her family, and travel. She had the chance to see Europe, England, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Russia, Egypt, Panama Canal and Hawaii and probably more. Good times and good memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, her sister Charlotte (Pat) Lippert, and brother Franklin Varley and Kenneth (Doots) Varley. She is survived by son Dallas Myers of Bakersfield, son Dennis Myers and wife Kathleen of Atwater, CA. Grandson Eric Myers, granddaughter Kimberly Hsu, and great granddaughters Elsie and Annika Hsu.
Sleep well, mom. We will miss you forever. You were a sweet little lady. Everyone loved you. Everyone still loves you.
