Gordon “Gordy” McMillan
1916 – 2011
Gordy was born on November 5, 1916, in Kerman, CA, to Pryor and Laura McMillan. Gordy was the youngest of seven children. Gordy was married to Mary Deaubler on April 10, 1941. He was employed by the Bank of America and the Taft City School District until his retirement in 1975. He moved to Baywood Park, CA, until 1984 and returned to Bakersfield to be closer to his family. While in Taft, Gordy was a member of the Taft Shamrocks, who won the Men’s Fast Pitch Softball World Series in 1948.
Gordy is survived by his daughter, Linda Griffith; grandchildren, Tom Reifel and spouse, Carrie, and Terri Robinson and spouse, Robert; along with four great-grandchildren, Dusty Robinson and Austin, and Sawyer and Chaney Reifel.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd. Visitation is not scheduled. For condolences please visit www.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com.
