A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the West Side District Cemetery for Billy Gearld Sampley, Sr., 77.  Rev. Tom White, pastor of Cuyama Assembly of God, will officiate at the service.  Mr. Sampley was born at home on November 3, 1934 in Grayback, Texas and passed away at San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield on February 6, 2012.  He was raised in Kadane Corner, Texas and worked in the oilfields in Texas until 1968 when he moved to Taft, CA where he went to work for General Production until he retired.  He loved traveling and enjoyed trips to Laughlin and Pismo Beach.  He looked forward to his trip to Texas every year.  He especially loved to be with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Monroe Sampley and Jettie Estelle Sampley; his brothers, Wayne Sampley
 of Oklahoma and Jack Sampley of Oregon; sister, Mary Clark of Wichita Falls, TX; brothers Charles Sampley of Royce City, TX and Dale Sampley of Iowa Park, TX; sister, Charlene Capehart of Taft; brother, Lehman Sampley of Taft; and granddaughter, Kayron Jones of Maricopa.  Mr. Sampley is survived by his brother and his wife, Glen and Rita Sampley of Iowa Park, TX; his wife of 58 years, Florris Sampley of Maricopa; his daughter and her husband, Vivian and Larry Beatrez; his son, Billy Sampley, Jr. of Maricopa; his grandchildren, Nicole Pierce and her husband, Bobby, of Brentwood, CA, April Patton and her husband, Jake of Bakersfield, Matthew Sampley of Maricopa; his great-grandchildren, Cierra Pierce, Ryan Pierce and Payton Pierce all of Brentwood and Calyssa Sproul and Jackson Patton of Bakersfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Gay Rodgers of Gordonville, TX, Bo and Lupe Camp of Groveton, TX and Malcolm Camp of Idaho; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.  To convey condolences or sign and online registry, please visit www.EricksonAndBrown.com
