What can you say about Taft's 100th birthday party that hasn't already been said?
You could not have dreamed of a better Oildorado Celebration that the 10-day party we just had.
Our hats are off to everyone who made this Oildorado the huge success it was.
From 2010 President Eric Cooper to his executive board to all the committee members and volunteers who worked hard to show off Taft at its best, we just have to say thank you.
It was not only brilliantly conceived, it was executed flawlessly and it made all that work worthwhile.
It had been in the planning stages since the 2005 Oildorado ended and it was obvious how much thought went into it.  From a barbecue in the taft College Quad the night before Oildorado officially  kicked off to the dedication of our magnificent Oilworker Monument through the traditional celebrations like the Civic Luncheon, Queens Pageant, melodrama and everything else, we not only showed off our town at its best to thousands of visitors, we did something else.
Thans to the Cooper, the executive committee and everybody else, we showed just what we are capable of doing in this town. Perspiration and inspiration  make for a very potent elixer
People worked long and hard to pull off this celebration and its impossible to mention everyone, but some stand out.
Cooper and the board, obviously, planned a perfect 100th birthday part. But the volunteers made it work. Those who manned the store  dealt with crowds you only see elsewhere during the Christmas rush. Everywhere there were volunteers working, often behind the scenes, to make sure people had a  great time.
A special thanks to the men and women of the Sheriff's Posse and the Wooden Nickel Gang. They worked  night and day for a full month,  serving warrants, kidnapping people, shooting it out and adding to the fun. They were everywhere all the time.
It was an unforgettable 10 days. Thank you.
