Alpha House says thank you
Dear Editor:
The Board of Directors and Staff at Alpha House would like to say a heart felt thank you to all who made our 2010 Barbecue and Auction a success. As most of our supporters know the Barbecue and Auction is our major fundraiser of the year. With the decrease in available funds, through grants and donations, fundraising events are an important part of grass roots organizations such as Alpha House. As Alpha House is a small organization we have to struggle to keep up with the larger organizations when soliciting donations. Small though we may be Alpha House is the only Battered/Homeless Women’s Shelter in Kern County that has staff on duty 24 hours per day 7 days per week. We are also the only shelter in Kern County that does domestic violence and sexual assault victim intakes after 5:00pm and on weekends and holidays. Unfortunately there is a critical need for Alpha House to remain in operation. This year the donors were very generous with Alpha House. First we would like to say thank you to WestAmerica Bank for underwriting our Bar-B-Que and Auction. Next we would like to say thank you to the small business owners and individuals who donated items and or money for our auction. Jim and Kay Stigall, LC Photography, Pizza Factory, Kelly at Passion 4 Nails, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Vincente’s Mexican Restaurant, Rose Gonzalez at Magic Touch, Christy Jarrinen at Magic Touch, Kim Grantham at Magic Touch, Latica Cary at Magic Touch, Ed & Rosa Galvin at Magic Touch, Paik’s Ranch House Restaurant, Cheryl Bethel at Trends, Domino’s Pizza, Sky Dive Taft, Sarah Foster at Serenity Salon, Danielle Wagner at Trends, Tiffany Yaws at Trends, Craig and Vickie Scholefield from Supreme Floor and Window Service, Country Corner Flower Shop, Elaine at Rejuv 10-23, Buena Vista Golf Course, Cindy at Cindy’s Hair Affair, Sue and Paul Jensen, Pastor Scott Pearson, Razor’s Edge, Peggy Palmer, Karen DeWitt, Ray Brown, San Joaquin Motors, Color Me Mine, Willow Ranch Restaurant in Buttonwillow, P.F.
