Dear Editor:

The Board of Directors and Staff at Alpha House would like to take this time to say a big thank you to all the businesses and individuals who made our Barbecue and Auction a success.

As most of our supporters know the Barbecue and Auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year.  With the economy in a down turn Alpha House is seeing more battered and homeless women than at any other time in our history.

Alpha House has always been an important resource for the women of Kern County and will become more so in the days to come.

We are appreciative those businesses and individuals who gave even though they are also feeling the impact of the poor economy. With that said, we want to say thank you to True Value Hardware, Paul and Sue Jensen, Lori Houk, Cindy’s Hair Affair, Desiree Genissee,  A Touch of Class, Simply Scrapbooks, Craig & Vickie Scholefield, Supreme Floor & Window Cleaning, Snedden Ranch, MTC, Ed & Rosa Galvin, Magic Tan, Peggy’s Dog Grooming Service, Diane Boliver, Lonnie & Debbie Brummett, William & Barbara Schlegal, Faith Mitchell & Joshua Menold, Bonnie, Maness, Ernie & Louise Hudgens, Margaret Rhoten, Doris Artz, Acme Almost Anything Jewelry, Don & Marty Robbins, Domino’s Pizza, Karen DeWitt – AVON, Mike & Pam Colen, Paul Wade, Gary & Arlene Simmons, Jack & Jean Turner, Cali’s Restaurant, The Elephant Bar, Pizza Factory,  Rejuv 10 23, Judy Olsen, John Ryan, Peggy Palmer, Alpha House Thrift, Westside Furniture, Darlene Davis, Bob & Joann Colston, Jean Kurtz, Cindy McClard, WestAmerica Bank, and all of the anonymous donors who gave to our auction.

The people who volunteered their time Mr. Wolf’s Taft Union High School AVID students, Daniel Loza, Mariana Gutierrez, Esperanza Uribe, Kevin Rivera, Jesse Gama, and Rhondelyn Boot. I received many compliments on the way the AVID students worked.

They were awesome.  Christian Johnson and Tarren Williams who came up with and implemented the pre boxed to go dinners (we will be doing that again next year), Dalton (Pooh Bear) Nichols, Janet Armstrong, Peggy Bushnell, Hannah Burton, Joseph Dickason, Samantha Dunham, Alex Koszalka, John Ryan, the Alpha House Staff, the Alpha House Board of Directors, Doug Keeler Editor of the  Daily Midway Driller for all the publicity leading up to our event, Keith & Edie Ogborn who did the wonderful barbecue, Paul Rubadeau our auctioneer, Debra Johnson (Christian’s Mom) who handled our Silent Auction, and Patty Crabb our Bookkeeper who sold dinner and raffle tickets at the door then took money for items bought at the auction and silent acution.

If I have forgotten to say thank you to anyone please forgive me and know that your efforts were appreciated.

Sincerely,
Faith Mitchell
