Dylan Self leads Taft with 12 points
The varsity Wildcat boys basketball team played the Shafter Generals and lost a close one 54-53. This puts the team at 5-4 in league play.
The teams went into halftime deadlocked at 24 apiece. The Generals outscored the Wildcats in the third quarter but the team turned that around in the fourth but came up just short in their push.
Dylan Self was the leading scorer for the team with 14 points. Zack Tuaila added 12 points and Fano Maui added 11. Blake Smith was able to get nine points, Tyler Terrell put up six points and Van Reimers ended the game with one point.
The team shot 31 percent from the floor and 65 percent from the free throw line. The 'Cats grabbed five offensive rebounds and 17 defensive rebounds. The team also got 11 steals. Tualia had two blocks in the contest.
The team will be traveling to Delano today to take on the Chavez Titans.
