Funds will help ensure that more children can take part in Rec sports, classes and activities

The West Side Recreation & Parks District will be accepting a generous donation of $15,000 from Chevron Corporation to the STOP Scholarship Program.

The STOP Scholarship Program stands for “Strive to Optimize Participation.”

This program is funded through donations and assists local youth in paying for WSRPD sports, classes and activities.

Over the years, Chevron has donated over $100,000 to the program which has provided hundreds of kids with the chance to participate.

Chevron will make the presentation Saturday at 10 a.m., on the Taft Union High School track at a WSRPD meet.
