In The Fire…But Not Burned!

 In The Fire…But Not Burned!

"He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." Malachi 3:3

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it".

Wow, isn’t that amazing? I mean really think about that. God has to sit and hold us the whole time we are being refined. He’s right there enduring the heat as well. So do you feel like you’re being refined? I know I sure am. I didn’t realize that’s what it was, until I received that email. It is so amazing to me, that just when I think I got it mostly figured out and things are looking great and I think my faith is strong…..WHAM.   Here comes the challenges. I began to feel as if I had missed it somewhere, I cried out to God and I asked him, “Where did I miss it?” But I quickly understood that it wasn’t anything I did or didn’t do. Things just happen.

Sometimes by choices we or others make and sometimes it’s from situations that God allows us to be in, for our good and His glory. Sometimes we just have to go through things to get to the things that God has for us. We need to understand that stuff happens everyday, things we didn’t ask for, things we don’t like, things we don’t understand even when wer’e doing all the right things. But we need to keep our Faith. No matter how things look to us on the outside, God sees a destiny and a perfect promise in us. So even though you  are walking through a fire right now, know that God has a perfect plan for your life and that you will not be burned.  We just need to learn to trust God even when it doesn’t feel good, even when we can’t see the bigger picture. God has made me see that He is God all by himself without any help from me.

When I confessed to give him every area of my life, I guess he took me pretty serious. Because he literally showed me how weak and vulnerable I really am in my own strength. And without Him I am completely powerless. But when I trusted Him completely, he tore down every wall of opposition and blessed me. So how long will you have to endure your situation? I believe a lot of that depends on you. The sooner you give up total control the sooner God will show you how big He really is. And he will turn it all around, for your good and His glory. So, If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His  image in you. And if you need a miracle today trust God for it, after all that is his specialty. Be Blessed. driller
