Crash closes highway for nearly an hour

One driver was injured and another arrested after a head-on collision on Highway 119 Saturday night.

Few details are available, but California Highway Patrol officers at the scene said a small Chevrolet pickup traveling eastbound crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with a GMC Yukon.

The woman driving the Yukon suffered moderate injuries, according to reports from the scene, and was taken in an ambulance to a Bakersfield Hospital.

The man driving the pickup was not injured.

However, he was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence.

The crash occurred about one mile west of Highway 43 at 8:35 p.m.

The names of the victim and suspect were not immediately available.

Traffic was halted for nearly an hour until the roadway was cleared.
