Wildcats will open playoffs at home on Thursday after first-roound bye


The Taft Union High School baseball team was rewarded for its strong regular season run Saturday when the South Sequoia League champion Wildcats got the No. 2 seed in the CIF-Central Section Division IV playoffs.
  With the No. 2 seed, the Wildcats (10-0 in the SSL, 20-5 overall) are assured of the home field  advantage up until the championship game.

Kerman was the No. 1 seed.

They also have a bye in the first round. The Wildcats will open the playoffs Thursday when they take on the winner of the Washington Union-Sierra game.

Taft High’s softball team isn’t going to the playoffs. The team voted not to take a playoff bid after its last regular season game.
