Victim rode dirt bike into path of car on Highway 119, CHP says

A teenage boy was critically injured when his dirt bike was struck by a car in Valley Acres early Tuesday morning.
The victim, whose name and age were not immediately available, rode his dirt bike onto Highway 119 and was hit by the car, California Highway Patrol officer Adam Taylor said.
The youth was westbound on Orange Street when the motorcycle drove into the path of a car going north on Highway 119, Taylor said.
The youth was ejected and landed on the west shoulder of the road.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and firefighters then taken by ambulance to a landing site near  Occidental of  Elk Hills headquarters where he was transferred to a helicopter that flew him to Kern Medical Center.
The crash halted traffic on Highway 119 for nearly an hour.
The driver of the car was not injured.
