Samson’s Gym held final bench press competition Saturday

Samson’s Gym wrote the final chapter of its bench press competition last Saturday and, at the same time, began writing the first chapter of its next muscle enterprise – a strong man competition.

“This in some ways is a sad moment,” Samson’s co-owner and the contest director Travis Botts announced after the hardware was handed out.

“But, we’re going to move on to other things.  Next May 5 we will hold our first annual Strong Man Strength and Endurance Contest.”

He didn’t provide any details except to say, “we have a lot of fun and interesting stuff planned for it.”

Botts thanked the community and event sponsors for their generosity in the 13 years the bench press had been held.
He also thanked Westside Believers Fellowship Church for providing such a quality venue for the event.

Botts said the success of the annual event has put the church up for consideration for a statewide bench press competition.

There was plenty of spirited competition during Samson’s finale contest, generating a lot of enthusiastic response from the audience.
