Suspect Dustin Wedel being held on $1 million
The man accused of murdering 3-year-old James Fanshier made his first court appearance Monday.
Dustin Lee Wedel was in court in Bakersfield for an arraignment, but the proceeding was continued to next week.
Wedel, 25, is accused of killing the young boy who died in Ford city on Jan.23.
He was arrested five months to the day after the boy's death when the Kern County Coroner announced autopsy results had been completed and the boy's death was a homicide caused by multiple blunt force trauma.
He was arrested last week and now faces charges of first degree murder and child abuse.
His bail was set at $1 million.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 5.
