Nolan is charged with drunk driving causing injury and hit and run causing injuries, both felonies. The identity, extent of injuries and condition of the victim were not available Monday from Taft Police. Aranda said police received a report of a pedestrian hit by a car in the 100 block of E. kern about 3:25 a.m. When they responded, Aranda said, witnesses told the officers that the victim had been struck by a white Toyota that fled the scene. The witnesses identified Nolan as the driver, and police went to the address where the suspect vehicle was registered and found Nolan sitting in the driver's seat of the car. He smelled of alcohol, Aranda said, and he was transported to Taft Jail, where he was booked after a blood alcohol test. This was the second hit and run involving a pedestrian in Taft in two weeks.
