Wildcats fall to West and Delano

It wasn’t the way the Taft junior varsity boys soccer team wanted to start their season after losing a pair of matches Saturday in the Garces Tournament at the State Farm Sports Village in Bakersfield.

“It wasn’t the results we expected,” said Taft assistant coach Luis Ponce. “It really highlighted what we need to work on individually and as a team.”

Both of the matches were shutouts with the Wildcats losing 2-0 to the West Vikings 2-0 in the morning game while falling 3-0 to Delano in the second matchup.

Taft will look to get their first win Tuesday when they travel to South High in Bakersfield. The match begins at 4:30 p.m.
