Man was arrested hours after teen was hit and seriously injured on Tenth Street in September
The man charged with felony hit-and-run in connection with the September 2012 accident that seriously injured a Taft teenager has pleaded no contest.
Victor Guiterrez, 21, entered the plea to one count of felony hit and run causing injury Tuesday in Taft branch of Kern County Superior Court.
Guiterrez was arrested on Sept, 24, a few hours after Conrad Embry, 19, suffered major injuries when he was struck by a car while walking on Tenth Street near North Street late at night.
The accident took place about 10 p.m.
About 12 hours later, Taft Polie got a tip that a vehicle matching the description of the suspect was parked in a yard in the 200 block of Woodrow St.
Officers responded, examined the vehicle than contacted Guiterrez.
He was questioned and subsequently arrested.
Guiterrez has been free on $20,000 bail.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 5.
