Defendant fined, placed on probation

Another defendant in an oilfield theft case has been sentenced to jail.

Michael Dewain George was sentenced to 120 days in jail on Feb. 1 for the theft of oilfield equipment from Occidental Petroleum, the Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes investigations Unit announced Friday.

George, 34, was convicted of possession of stolen property on Jan. 3, a month after charges were filed against him

He was also ordered to complete drug counseling and will be on probation for three years.
