Child was left in overturned stroller
TEHACHAPI -- A Tehachapi woman is charged with child abuse and drug use after her two year child was allegedly left alone in a strolled left in a vacant field overnight in the mountain community.
The Kern County Sheriff's office reported the child was physically unharmed by the ordeal.
The Sheriff's Office said deputies received information from the incident from the Tehachapi Police Department.
The investigation reveled the child was found by a passerby in the strolleer about 9 a.m. on June 15.
Investigators believe the child had been left like that since about 10:30 p.m. on June 14.
deputies located the child's mother, identified as 34-year-old Tehachapi resident Stacey Nikkel, and arrested her on charges of child endangerment, child abandonment, and being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was booked on the charges at the Central Receiving Jail in Bakersfield and held on $20,000 bail.
