Flood watch continues for mountains

Taft dodged a bullet Thursday afternoon when heavy thunderstorms caused flashed flooding along Highway 33 and Lockwood valley in Ventura County, but there's a chance of storms here continuing through Friday night.

A flood advisory for the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley, including the Taft-Maricopa area, expired at 4:45 p.m. with no problems reported.

A flash flood watch continues for the mountains of Kern ,Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Flash flooding was reported in the Lockwood Valley area east of Highway 33 Thursday afternoon.

For Taft, there is a 30 percent chance of storms this evening, mainly before 11 p.m. with an overnight low around 80.

The chance of showers continues Friday and Friday night before a drying trend kicks in for the weekend.
