Arizona Pilgrim and Caitlyn Emberson made the all team list

The glow of winning another title may have faded a bit for the Taft varsity softball team, but the awards still keep coming after they were named recently to the Maxpreps medium schools softball Team of the Year for this past season.

The Lady Wildcats went 28-5 over the course of the season while winning their fourth straight South Sequoia League title by going 12-0. They capped off their run by advancing to their fourth straight Valley Championship (this time in the Division III bracket) before winning their third straight.

The team were not the only ones from Taft to be honored. According to, Arizona Pilgrim and Caitlyn Emberson made the Maxpreps 2015 Cal Medium Schools All State Softball team.

Pilgrim made the list as a pitcher after she struck out 293 batters and won 26 games according to the website. She also had an earned run average of 0.54.

All totaled, Pilgrim had 1,028 strikeouts in 638 innings and won 103 games in her high school career.

Also joining the pitchers category were players from Whittier, Burbank, Galeta, Torrance, Olivehurst, San Bernardino, Woodland, Los Banos and San Jaciento.

Meanwhile, Emberson was named to the catcher’s category along with Aubree Douglas of San Jaciento and Niko Walker of Santa Fe Springs.

In a short amount of time, Pilgrim and Emberson will be making their transition to Charleston Southern University.
