Clothes, school supplies and backpacks requested

The annual Back to School Connection, sponsored by Taft First Assembly of God, West Side Community Resource Center, Salvation Army and other local churches and businesses, makes sure that every child possible gets the supplies and preparation he or she needs to start the new school year.
But those groups need your help.
Donations make it possible, and the organizers are asking the public to help by donating  school supplies.
Here's what's needed:
Notebook paper and spiral notebooks, pencils, pencil boxes, ink pens, crayons and colored pencils, pencil-top erasers, rulers and backpacks, folders and book covers.
Also needed are hand sanitizers and  tissue packs plus new or gently used clothing.
Cash donations are also welcome. Make checks payable to the Salvation Army.
Donated items can be dropped off at the  West Side Community Resource Center, 915 N. Tenth St. Suite 20 or call 765-7281 to have items picked up.
For more information about donating, call 765-7281 or 809-8923.
