Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery for Andrew Lee “Andy” Newkirk on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. To honor Andy’s love for motorcycles and old cars, the family would like you to drive them to his services. Andy was born on March 10, 1957 to Thelma Lou Ripperdan Newkirk and Lewis Daniel Newkirk in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He peacefully departed this life July 29, 2015 at home in the company of his wife and children. Andy was preceded in death by both his parents; his sisters, Lola and Leota; his brother, Dan; and his nephew, Steve. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol Ann (Evans) Newkirk; his children, Walter Paul Windes and wife, Caycee; Andrea Marie (Newkirk) Crabb and husband, Zak; Dawna Rae (Newkirk) Melton and husband, Matt; and Daniel Lewis Newkirk and wife, Stephanie all of Taft; his “Little Buzzards” (grandchildren), Kyle and Kimber Crabb, Hunter and Kenlee Melton, Walter Evan and Elsa Windes, and Weston and baby Newkirk coming in March. He is also survived by three sisters, Sheila Overdevest and husband, Pete of Bakersfield; Bonnie Lawson and husband, Ted of Arkansas, and Shirley Turner of Oregon; his brother, Bill Newkirk of Oklahoma; very special nieces and nephews, Connie, Billy, Sandra, Barbara, Carol, Michael, Buck, Bill, Tula, Kim, LeAnn, Angela, and Jennifer; his pets, “Foxie” and the “Coon”; and a multitude of friends and coworkers. Andy was a legend in his line of work. He was a very successful and respected oil tool fisherman. Andy also had a passion for things with wheels and he was able to enjoy that hobby especially in the last few years. He was most proud of his children, his grandchildren, his Harley, his GTX, and his gun collection. He will be greatly missed by all he knew. Until we are together again we will love and miss you. Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
