A graveside funeral service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. for longtime Taft resident, Kathleen Grantham, 93.  Mrs. Grantham was born on October 3, 1921 in Wagner, Oklahoma and passed away on September 17, 2015 in Taft.  She moved to Taft in 1927 and was raised and educated in Taft.  She graduated from Taft Union High School in 1940 and  from Taft College in 1942.  Mrs. Grantham became a member of the First Baptist Church as a small child and has attended ever since.  She was a giver to her church and Taft.  Mrs. Grantham worked for JC Penney in Taft for many years.  She will be remembered by many as the Librarian at Parkview School, a volunteer at the West Kern Oil Museum, N.E.E.D.S. Center,  AWANA  at First Baptist Church, Kern County Volunteer of the year and sales person of the year at JC Penney.  Mrs. Grantham was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell “Fred” Grantham, her son, Michael Grantham, her great-grandson, Dusty Thomas and her brother, Bill Potts.  Her survivors include, her two sons, William Keith Grantham and Robert Edwin Grantham; her daughters-in-law, Marcia Grantham and her children, Tammy, Bryan, Kirk, and Kim Grantham; Valerie and her husband, Don Swearingen and their children, Rodney and Ryan Grantham; 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many other family members.  There are no visitation hours scheduled.  To sign an online registry please visit www.EricksonAndBrown .com.
