He leaves after 5 years in Battalion 2. Benny Wofford also promoted

The Kern County Fire Department announced the promotions of battalion chiefs Brent Moon and

Benny Wofford to the rank of Deputy Chief.

The KCFD's four Deputy Chiefs oversee the operation of the Fire Department and manage various programs. They work directly beneath Fire Chief Brian Marshall.

"It is always a great pleasure to see our people advance and take on new leadership roles. I look forward to what the future holds for the Kern County Fire Department," Marshall said.

Moon was hired by KCFD in 1984. In addition to his role as a Battalion Chief, he has

managed the fire department's radio program. He has also been involved with incident management teams and the heavy rescue division.

Moon has been working in Battalion 2, which includes stations in Maricopa, Taft, Fellows, McKittrick, Buttonwillow and Lost Hills, for the past 5 years

Wofford was hired by KCFD in 1986. In addition to serving as a battalion chief, he

has been the Kern County fire marshall for the past five years, overseeing the fire

prevention and code enforcement units.

Wofford is no stranger to Taft, either. City Manager Craig Jones said Wofford has worked with the city and Taft building owners several times and was very helpful reopening the Fox Theater.
