Kern County Animal control also offers free microchipping at event on July 23 at Ford City Park

People living in Ford City, Taft Heights, South Taft and other unincorporated areas of the Westside can get their dogs and cats vaccinated and microchipped and their dogs licensed at a clinic in Taft on July 23.

The low-cost clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Ford City Park.

Rabies vaccinations are free with a purchase of a license for dogs and $5 for cats.

DHPP (canine distemper) and FVRCP (feline distemper) vaccinations for cats are $3 for both dogs and cats.

Microchipping is free for dogs and cats.

A one year license for a spayed or neutered dogs $15 and a three-year license is $30.

Licenses for natural dogs are $60 for one year and $120 for three years.

Seniors aged 62 or older get a discount for spayed or neutered dogs. Licenses are just $5 for one year or $15 for three years.

Proof of spay or neuter must be provided for the reduced fees and for a three-year license.
