Events will raise money to send Macayla Wells, Tyler Terrell and Richard Jennings to Junior Olympics

While the regular Olympics are still three weeks away, Taft's Macayla Wells, Tyler Terrell and Richard Jennings are in preparation to compete in the Junior Olympics in a little over a week. The West Side Recreation and Park District along with Hot Tap's Service are looking to help them get there with a series of events next Friday and Saturday.

The first event will be taking place Friday, July 22 with Glo Bowl from 6-8 p.m. The cost to participate is $15 an hour. The event will also run again Saturday, July 23 from 5 p.m.-midnight.

There will also be a $1000 gift certificate raffle for Ten Percent Firearms. Only 100 tickets will be sold at $20 per ticket. Proceeds from the Glo Bowl and the raffle will help offset expenses for the three athletes at the Junior Olympics.

On Saturday, July 23 there will be a banner signing party from 5-8 p.m., at the Rec Center Party Room. It will be at that event the drawing for Ten Percent Firearms gift certificate will be held. The winner need not be present.

Wells, Terrell and Jennings will be competing in the Junior Olympics at Sacramento State from July 25-31. Wells will be competing in three events, while Jennings will be competing in the 80 meter hurdles. Terrell will be competing in the long jump.
