After weeks of training, Taft track and field athletes Macayla Wells, Richard Jennings and Tyler Terrell will get their chance to compete in the Junior Olympics this coming week up at Sacramento State in Sacramento.
The Junior Olympics will be starting Tuesday with the opening ceremony with the events starting Wednesday.
Terrell will be competing first in the triple jump Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.
Originally Wells would have followed by competing in her first competition Thursday at 1 p.m., but Wells has withdrawn from the 100 and 200 meter hurdles due to a knee injury. Wells will still be competing in the triple jump.
Meanwhile, Jennings first race will be Thursday at 11:40 a.m.
Subsequent times and days will depend on how the three do in their opening competition.
The three athletes got a send off Saturday evening with a banner signing ceremony at the Rec with everyone who wanted to, getting a chance to sign a banner to congratulate them or wish them luck with the three athletes names on it.
