Suspect caught after foot chase, search in Ford City
A Taft man has been arrested for rape and several other charges.
Kern County Sheriff's Sgt. Avery Simpson gave this account:
On Saturday at about 7:50 p.m. Sheriff's deputies from the Taft Substation were contacted by an adult female who reported she had been kidnapped and raped at a residence in to 600 Block of Buchanan St. in Ford City.
Through the course the investigation deputies went to the residence in the 600 Block of Buchanan to attempt to contact the suspect, identified Kevin Larry , 24.
When deputies arrived, Larry exited the residence on foot and began running through the neighborhood.
Deputies chased after Larry and were eventually able to take him into custody several blocks from the residence.
When Larry fled from deputies he left his one year old child alone inside the residence. The child was uninjured and later released to a family friend. Larry was booked at the Kern County Jail for kidnapping, rape, forced oral copulation, threaten with intent to terrorize, willful cruelty to a child, and resist or delay a peace officer.
