Spartans score final 31 points
The Taft sophomore Wildcatters football team kicked off a new chapter Saturday afternoon by playing in the Golden Empire Youth Football League. In the end, the Wildcatters were hoping for a do over after the Spartans came back to defeat Taft 31-6 in Taft.
Taft caught fire right on the second play of the game when Bryce O’Dell ran 45 yards for a touchdown. However, the extra point run was no good.
The Spartans bounced back late in the second quarter with a five yard touchdown run with 2:34 to go in the half. The extra point was good and the Spartans over took the lead.
Right before the halftime break the Spartans added to their lead with an interception return for a touchdown with 18 seconds left.
The offensive scoring returned for the Spartans in the third quarter with a 15-yard run at the 6:12 mark. Defense made some noise for the Spartans with 10 seconds left thanks to safety.
Thirty nine seconds into the fourth quarter, the Spartans struck one final time with a 28-yard touchdown run.
