Defendant pleads no contest to spousal abuse: Rape false imprisonment and other counts dismissed
Nearly all charges have been dismissed against a Taft man arrested on rape charges in mid August.
Kevin James Larry, 24, pleaded no contest to one felony count of spousal abuse at pretrial hearing Tuesday in Kern County Superior Court Felony counts of rape of a spouse by force fear or threat, forced oral copulation, false imprisonment and misdemeanor counts of child endangerment, obstructing or delaying a police officer and spousal battery were dismissed
Larry is scheduled to be sentenced on September 30.
He is being held in the Kern County Sheriff's Lerdo Facility on $100,000 bail.
Larry was arrested by Kern County Sheriff's deputies after a foot chase and search in the Ford City area on August 14.
Deputies went to the the 600 block of Buchanan Street while investigating a reported kidnap and rape
When they arrived about 7:50 p.m., Larry ran out the back of the home and fled on foot, according to a KCSO news release.
He was caught several blocks from the residence.
