Taft man arrested and charged with drug dealing. Meth also seized, police say

Taft Police arrested a Taft man and seized 10 pounds of marijuana and more than a half-ounce of methamphetamine when they served a search warrant Monday night.

The case is still under investigation and few details are available, but police said the warrant was served on the 100 block of Shattuck Avenue where the resident was arrested.

He was identified as Wesley Wolfe.

He is being held on $250,000 bail and is charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine for sale and possession of marijuana for sale and several misdemeanor narcotic related violations, Sgt. Shad Swanson said.

Police seized "more than 10 pounds" of marijuana and about 16 grams of suspected methamphetamine, Swanson said.

Even though California voters approved an initiative making recreational marijuana use legal, Chief of Police Ed Whiting said possession of such a large amount of marijuana will only be legal for people holding special licenses when the new law goes into effect.
