RCIU also investigating theft of generator
The Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes Investigations Unit is seeking the public's help finding the people responsible for two oilfield thefts on the Westside in August, including one that resulted in the loss of more than 1,000 pounds of copper wire.
Here are the two thefts:
Between Aug. 14 at 4 p.m. and Aug. 15 at 7 a.m., unknown suspects forcibly entered an oilfield storage unit in the 35000 block of Highway 33, and stole approximately 1,200 to 1,500 pounds of scrap copper wire. Between Aug. 24 at 6:45 a.m. and Aug. 25 at 6:30 a.m., unknown suspects stole a red Honda Whisper generator from an oil lease located off of Highway 119 after breaking into the trailer parked at the rig site.
