The second annual March for Science Ridgecrest will be held Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Petroglyph Park.

The March for Science in Ridgecrest is organized by Ridgecrest United. The event will include fundraising for the local American Association of University Women (AAUW) Tech Trek program that sponsors girls to attend a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) focused summer camp.

On April 22, 2017, more than one million people around the world gathered together in the largest event for science advocacy in history. Over the last year, thousands of advocates have taken action with March for Science (MFS) to support evidence-based policy.

Since 1998 the China Lake-Ridgecrest Branch of AAUW has sent over 120 girls to Tech Trek camps; the cost in 2017 was $900 per girl (of which $50 was paid by parents).

All donations are tax deductible. Checks may be made out to AAUW-CA-SPF, with Tech Trek written in the memo line, and mailed to AAUW, P.O. Box 1473, Ridgecrest, CA 93556.
