Defendant pleads no contest to attack on Finley Drive
A Taft man is going to be sentenced on August 17 after he pleaded no contest to an armed robbery charge last week in Kern County Superior Court.
Devlyn Thailor Ray was arrested by Taft Police on July 8 near the Goodwill Store in the 400 block of Finley Drive following an altercation with another man.
Taft Police said Ray tried to take some property from the victim in a "vigilante" action and several witnesses told police they saw him carrying a knife.
Medical aid was summoned for the victim but he was not seriously injured.
Ray, 30, is free on $50,000 bail while awaiting sentencing.
