Party to mark launch of Oildorado 2020 will be held on Oct. 9

Taft Oildorado has named the new president for the upcoming Oildorado 2020 celebration.

Shannon Miller, director of operations at the Taft Chamber of Commerce will take over for outgoing President Paul Linder.

An executive board member since 2012, Shannon served as the treasurer for the 2015 event, a role in which she will continue to assist as the new president.

Taft Oildorado Days is planning a launch party to be held on Tuesday, October 9  at 6 p.m. in the Oildrado room  at the Taft Transit Center to announce the newest members of the general board of directors. Individuals who are interested in a particular event or activity can submit a volunteer form to express interest as the chair, committee, or volunteer. All current and past volunteers as well as any community members wishing to participate in the festivities will need to return the brief form.

Volunteer forms are available at or on the Oildorado Facebook page and need to be returned by September 28, 2018.

Oildorado will be held October 9-18, 2020 and include the time-honored traditions and events including the civic luncheon, queen pageant, Whiskerino and Tessie Garratt competition, oilfield skills competition, hot air balloons, carnival, grand parade, air display and fly-over, melodrama, and more. The Sheriff’s Posse and Wooden Nickel Gang will return as well as the Maids of Petroleum and Headquarters Store.
